English Riviera Wheel, Torquay

This large ferris wheel is named after its location in the English Riviera, which is the affectionate nickname of Torbay, a conurbation in South Devon which includes Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. This area has been inhabited since the Palaeolithic, and exhibits some of the earliest human settlements in all of Europe, dating at least 35,000 years back. Given its climate, unusually nice and mild for Britain, it's little wonder it's been inhabited for so long!
