Description
Although this imposing place in the centre of Brussels is the official residence of the monarch of Belgium, the royal family doesn't live there - they inhabit a palace outside the city instead. Although the palace existed on its grounds since the Middle Ages, the present building was constructed on the orders of infamous Leopold II. In contrast to his war crimes in Congo, he was very keen on improving the architectural image of Belgium and was known as the Builder King domestically.
